You Know Everything
Written, arranged & produced by Wayne & Carla
Wayne: Probably the oldest song on the record - I think we wrote this back in the
depression era or something... Original inspiration: T-Rex (the band not the din-o). Al
is probably the mellowest and most passive guy I know, but I’m pretty sure he wanted to
kill Carla and me as we kept injecting, while he was mixing.
Carla: Everything we do has purpose and consequence, even when we think no one’s
looking. This song was written some time ago – we’ve performed it live, and now it
finally has a home on this record. Again, thanks to Al for being patient with us and
finding the perfect little noise.
lyrics
So close and always
Being there forever
Every hair on my head
Numbered and counted
You know everything
Everything about me
You know it all
Every word shakes you
Lands upon your heart
Everybody looks down
When they see you coming
You know everything
Everything about me
You know it all
CHORUS:
You can break apart the pieces
Just don’t tell me what you see
You already know the darkness
You already know me
What am I made of?
Only salt and dirt
Will I remember
Everything that falls off?
You know everything
Everything about me
You know it all
What am I made of?
Tender like a ghost
So close and always
Being there forever
You know everything…
CHORUS: (2x)
You can break apart the pieces
Just don’t tell me what you see
You already know the darkness
You already know me
